Another paleoart piece behind me, this one was joy to work on.
It depicts herbivorous Stegosaurus from late Jurassic period, grazing at shallow pond somewhere in deep forests of North America .
I really liked how this one turned out and thought I could share it here.
Stegosaurus modeled and textured in Zbrush, rendered in 3ds max with mental ray. Image composited in photoshop.
Background and entire environment elements composited from about 10 photos of my own.
There is some minor paint-over work on Stegosaurus plates, attempt to introduce some random cracks, that wear and tear feel.
Original image size is little above 4k, and it is real pleasure to look at on big screen. Dinosaurs rulz
